Flamenco is for girls and boys and is a great way for kids to exercise, develop confidence, rhythm and self-expression in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Our classes include lots of activities including footwork, flamenco clapping (palmas), learning to dance with a fan or manton (shawl) and playing percussion. Kids will learn some Spanish words and about Spanish culture.

Studio Flamenco offers classes for children and young people from 4 years of age in our fully equipped, air-conditioned, mirrored dance studio in Clarence Park. We have plenty of parking and the studio is easy to get to by public transport (Bus stop #8 on Goodwood Road).

We have over 20 years of experience teaching children and offer 2 levels depending on the age and experience of your child. Children aged 11 years and over may also attend adult classes.

Every year, children have the opportunity to perform in our end of year show, accompanied by professional flamenco musicians. See our student performance photo gallery…Ole!

You can use your ‘Sports Voucher’ towards flamenco dance classes at Studio Flamenco for your child (Reception to Year 9). For more information about ‘Sports Vouchers’ visit https://sportsvouchers.sa.gov.au or contact Studio Flamenco.

What to wear

Flamenco shoes/boots

Children don’t need to have flamenco shoes for their first class. Sturdy street shoes or boots, character shoes, or tap shoes if you have them will be fine to start with.

We have some second-hand shoes available for purchase at the studio and can provide information about online stores and local dance shops.

Dancewear

Leotard, T-shirt or other top, comfortable pants or leggings and/or a skirt.

Studio Flamenco Youth Company

The Studio Flamenco youth company was established with support from the Cities of Mitcham and Unley to provide opportunities for young people to extend their dance training and performance skills. Students aged 10-25 years who attend the advanced children’s class are invited to participate in Youth Company classes and performances.
